CSE Wins £2 Million Contract To Deploy Nation-Wide Information And Control System In The UK
| SINGAPORE - (Thursday, August 7, 2003) CSE Global Limited (CSE) today announced that its United Kingdom (UK) based subsidiary, CSE-Servelec, was recently awarded a £2 million (S$5.7 million) contract by National Grid Transco Plc (NGT) to expand CSE-Servelec's scope of work in the deployment a nation-wide monitoring and control system.
Formerly known as Transco plc, NGT is the largest utility in the UK responsible for the nation's gas transportation network, including the operation and maintenance of 275,000 km of gas pipelines as well as seven terminals that receive gas from operating rigs in approximately 100 offshore fields around the British Isles. Gas is also transported to Ireland and Mainland Europe at two Inter-connector points. This contract is an extension of the original project awarded to CSE-Servelec by NGT in December 2001 to deploy a UK-wide telemetry system. CSE-Servelec will implement its proprietary SCOPE-X SCADA system and XTRAView web browser interface to replace the current aging systems. The state-of-the-art SCOPE-X system will boost NGT's control and monitoring capabilities across the UK gas pipeline network and improve operational efficiency. In addition, CSE-Servelec will provide its systems integration expertise to allow collected telemetry data to be processed, manipulated and integrated with NGT's business applications. This will improve the client's supply/demand forecasting, energy management, network balancing and maintenance scheduling process areas. The new systems will also automate previously manual, repetitive tasks releasing NGT staff to focus on higher value activities. As the project will be predominantly delivered in FY2004, this contract will have no significant impact on CSE Global's net profit for the current financial year. None of the Directors or substantial shareholders of CSE has any interest, direct or indirect, in the contract. |
